Easter was nice. We were awoken by the kids pretty early and eventually went downstairs to hunt for baskets. They got some fun art stuff and of course plenty of candy. Then we got ready for church and went to church. My parents came down around 5 or so and we invited our friends, the Colvin's over to join us for flank steak, potatoes and salad for Easter dinner. It was a beautiful, sunny day and we ate outside. Then the girls decided it was time for us to take in the chicken circus they had been planning between church and dinner. We were a willing audience.
Ruby was the master of ceremonies.
I love this pic of Betsey perfectly poised for her first event.
Chickens on a moving hula hoop! :) That is Betsey's Buff Orpington, Kelly.
Then Alice's Barred Rocks, Tweety was up for some sliding.
Ta-da!
Next, Ruby did some sort of baton twirling act with her Barred Rocks, Bella.
Over the head.
Up high.
Over the shoulder.
After the chickens had sufficiently wowed the crowd with their talent, the gymnastics began. Ruby and Alice both did some impressive cartwheeling and such.
Betsey is really good at riding Ruby like a horse...so that was her minute in the sun. She also did some jumping on the trampoline while clapping her hands, and a bum drop.
Betsey bowing at the end of her portion of the show.
Alice and Ruby coordinated a little act doing bridges and back walk overs and other things from gymnastics. Super cute. Synchronized gymnastics!
Then we hid the eggs for a hunt. We decided to do the hunt when Oma and Opa were there to enjoy. Betsey loved it!
Chris did some harder hiding for the big kids.
We had a nice, relaxing Easter!
